THE EARLY BIRD PROJECT
At The Early Bird Project, we know all too well the struggles and triumphs of having a baby in the NICU. We know, firsthand, how painful it is to leave that small area of the hospital everyday, to be a mother while entrusting your small infant in the hands of others to care for because it is in their best interest. Our goal is to ease that pain and provide families with care packages filled with items to make their stay, no matter how long, more manageable.
WHO WE ARE
Here at The Early Bird Project, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Our project began in 2019 when our founder, Jennie Gallagher, gave birth to her son, Alexander, at 28 weeks gestation. After spending three months in the local NICU with him while also having two small children at home, her desire to help other families in the same situation grew into The Early Bird Project.

The Early Bird Project builds care packages for families experiencing a stay in the NICU. Each package contains items that are meant to help parents navigate the difficulties that come from that experience. From notebooks to chapstick to swaddle blankets, each item is carefully selected and packaged with love from a fellow NICU parent.

The babies that The Early Bird project serves spend the beginning of their life in a small area of the hospital called the neonatal intensive care unit. The amount of information flowing between doctors, nurses, therapists, and parents is imeasurable here. Learn more about the place that they call home.
